Kapa Continental in Cincinnati OH for $325

This seller in the Cincinnati area is is offering a 1960's vintage Kapa Continental for $325 - not a bad deal.  Like he says in the listing Kapa's were hand assembled in the USA with parts mostly from Hofner in Germany.  The Kapa story is pure 1960's American since they were literally built one at a time in a workshop in back of a music store in Silver Spring Maryland. Not quite the boutique quality of today's "Luthier" guitars - more like German-American workmanship and reliability.

This Continental shows the typical finish chipping and flaking common of all the Kapa's since the paining and finishing process did not have the benefit of large factory oven baked finish methods.  I think it adds to the charm - but that is just my opinion.

I think Kapa's make great Indie Band/ Alternative Rock guitars especially for female players with small hands since they have nice thin necks.

I'm selling an old mid-'60s Kapa Continental in metallic red. These are such cool guitars. They were built mostly in the US with some parts coming from West Germany. I specify which Germany, because there were two of them at the time. This is a vintage guitar. The bridge is not original, but it's a good match for the neck. It's a Ric-type bridge, and the string spacing is very similar. The neck is super thin. The body is comfortable and light. The pickups are original and clear. The vibrato is close to a Jazzmaster. The pick guard is unremarkable. These guitars were like a mix of a Jazzmaster and a Mustang or a Stratocaster. But with staple-top pickups, I believe made by Hofner, sort of Rickenbacker-esque. It's a unique guitar that could help you define your own unique sound. If you feel like there are already too many Jazzmasters in the local music scene, or you want something that sounds actually like the '60s and not just a vague interpretation, this is a functional, desireable, beautiful alternative. Or you could spend more on a Squier...
