Sears 1421 / 10XL Tube combo amp in Birmingham AL for $200

This seller is offering a nice little Silvertone 10XL tube combo - also known as the Model 1421. These are an all tube circuit that includes a 6x4 rectifier tube, 12ax7 preamp and Tremolo and a 7189 power tube. The 7189 is a heck of a tube - has a really nice tone and breaks up nicely at volume. Of course that little 6x4 rectifier tube will give you some nice compression and sag when you dime this amp.

A little tidbit to know about this particular model - the later versions (1971 and 1972) with the "square red power light" uses PCB circuit board construction and these earlier "round red power light" versions use traditional PTP type eyelet boards. Your amp tech will appreciate the difference.

Very cool little American made amp. These were made between about 1969 and 1973 for Silvertone (Sears) and were the last of the Silvertone tube amp line before it all went solid state (aka "to h***"). Runs about 10 watts and is legitimately quite loud. Very cool tremolo sound, different from a Fender amp, there are some videos on youtube. The grill cloth on this one is an interesting waffle-weave kind of pattern and is in very good shape, as is the tolex. Negatives: missing a screw or two off the back and one nut on the front, and sticker label has some bubbling. Tubes are all original Silvertone tubes, hard to believe this thing has survived in such original condition. These were designed by Danelectro, but by this time I am not sure who made them--could have been Danelectro, could have been Harmony. Just not a whole lot of info out there, but check silvertoneworld.net. Reply to email or call or text 2-0-5-***-****. Many thanks.
