Teisco Checkmate 18 tube amp in Springfield Il for $175

I've never played through one of these old Teisco Checkmate tube amps but I'd imagine if you are a Teisco complete-ist you would have some interest in one of these. This one looks like Teisco's version of a Vibrolux.

Japanese guitar amps tend to have unique tube lineups - definitely not the same as your average Fender or Marshall. Expect something like 7189 power tubes. I believe that the Teisco 18 is actually a 30 watt amp (according to Larry John McNally the resident expert on these things). I would imagine this would not be super loud though, Japanese amps rarely are, mostly due to smaller output transformers.

These are much harder to find than their American counterparts. They often got trashed. That said, this one is in nice looking shape - at least in the photo.
